Why professional training matters

Professional guidance.
A clearer path forward.

ICBC explains that driver training develops the skills and attitudes that support safe, confident driving.

ICBC also recommends checking school and instructor licences and choosing a course that fits your needs.

Professional passenger driving combines safe decisions with care for the people travelling with you. Our expert guidance can make knowledge-test topics clearer and help you refine inspection routines and driving skills before your Class 4 road test.

01

Why choose Class 4?

Restricted Class 4 supports taxi, limousine, ride-hailing and ambulance driving. Unrestricted Class 4 also allows buses with a seating capacity of up to 25 people, including the driver. Choose the licence for your passenger-service goal.

An unrestricted Class 4 road test needs an appropriate vehicle with 11–25 seats, including the driver; a regular car is not sufficient. Confirm the training vehicle with us.

02

Prepare your knowledge

Use ICBC’s Driving Commercial Vehicles guide to study the sections that apply to Class 4. Discuss passenger safety, road rules and inspection questions with your instructor to connect your study with practical driving decisions.

03

Practise passenger-focused skills

Work on smooth braking, observation, positioning and safe decision-making. Pre-trip inspection is included in your two-hour session, giving you a chance to practise both vehicle checks and road skills with feedback before your test.

Training helps you prepare; passing depends on meeting ICBC’s requirements and demonstrating the required skills.
